Was Max, the main character in your book, really your dog?
Yes she was!
How long did you have Max?
We had Max for almost 13 years.
Why did you give Max a boy's name?
I named Max after her mother, "Maxsimillion Wonder Girl."
Her full name is Miracle Max von Misty Ridge.
Did Max really wear a red bandana!
Max had all kinds of bandanas. And yes, we did give her a red bandana for her birthday - That part of the story is true! Since Max was an "American-born" German shepherd, she also wore an American flag bandana!
Could Max really pull kids on a sled?
Yes! If I tied a rope to a sled, Max took the rope in her mouth, started to pull until the sled started moving, and then she started to run...The louder the kids on the sled yelled, the faster Max ran ! We also have a red sled just like the one she pulls in the book!
Can Max come to my school?
Max loved to visit schools with me because Max loved kids!
I guess I will have to visit schools by myself from now on, but I do have a really big Max stuffed dog that kids love to pass around and hug!

I am a full-time Mom, part-time Children's Author, and owner of
Miracle Max... June 5, 1992 - November 13, 2004.

Were you born in the United States?
Yes - I was born in Wilmington, Delaware USA
Did you really live in other countries?
Yes - I have lived in the United States, Mexico, and Switzerland.
Do you speak any languages other than English?
Yes - I also speak Spanish.
Did you go to college?
Yes - I went to Webster College in Geneva Switzerland, and the University of Delaware where I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations.
Did you really draw the pictures in the book?
Yes - I drew all of the book's illustrations. The book's illustrations are in black and white so that children can color them themselves if they want; like a coloring book!
Is it true that the clubhouse in your book is real?
Yes! When I was in Elementary School there was a "magical" wooden clubhouse that was hidden in the woods! And, it really did have a trap door, a knotted rope, a ladder, and little hidden windows!
Are you married? Do you have any kids? How old are they?
Yes - My husband Tom and I have been married for 28 years!
Yes - We have four children...Sean-26, Lauren-24, Ryan-22, and Daniel-18
Do you have any other pets?
Yes - We have an 16-year-old black and white cat named Patch that we adopted from the SPCA when she was a kitten, and a 5-year-old mixed breed... named Jack!

What is the Miracle Max Mystery Club?
That's simple...It's a safe place on the Internet for kids - and lots of adults - to learn and have fun!When I started writing the book, Miracle Max...Missing in Maryland, I thought how cool it would be if the kids who were reading the books could actually take part in creating the books. Just imagine walking into a book store, seeing a book on a shelf, and thinking, "Hey, I helped to write that book!"
I created the Miracle Max Web Site and the Miracle Max Mystery Club so that I could stay in touch with kids, and adults...all over the world. And, everyone who was a Club member when my first book was published has their name on my book's "Miracle Max Mystery Club Members" page!
The "Members Only" page on this web site is an interactive page where Club members can do fun
things like: ask questions, vote, play games, chat with other Club members, voice their opinions, explain their ideas, enter contests, and send me their own stories and artwork!
